Well.....hmmmmm.... I deleted my old "Gamergirl" postings....mainly because they were outdated. I figured maybe I'd pick up doing this blog again just for my own personal benefit and hey! if someone decided to read it....well then so be it. So, this is an introductory post to the new "Gamergirl's Guide To Motherhood." I'll be honest; this is not a Susie Homemaker kinda blog. If you want that side of me and the side where I only rant a teensy bit about my kids you can venture over to the girls' blog. Otherwise, be prepared for me to bitch and complain about my kids and how tired I am and how I don't get to play WoW enough or don't get to do the few Susie Homemaker things that I do, do. (crochet, cross-stitch, a teensy bit of scrapbooking) I also swear....like a sailor if the timing is right. ( I am a retired sailor's daughter so I guess to a certain extent it's appropriate.) I also ramble and I write how I talk. So there will be grammatical errors more than likely and a few spelling mistakes here and there.....though I usually do pretty decent at spelling. My sense of humor is pretty dry and I'm kinda sarcastic. I will admit I'm married to the greatest geeky husband ever. (Oh, and even though I say that.....he can totally piss me off sometimes, but that's as it should be. If there wasn't any of that then I'd be thinking we were in the twilight zone or something.)
I think one of the reasons I decided to write this is while reading my recent "Parents" magazine I realized i was a little annoyed at how it seemed so....well annoying. I have yet to see one article where it talks about Gamermoms. I'm not talking about the moms who got hooked on playing their kids' Wii. :oP (I honestly have nothing against the Wii...I can play my old gamecube games on it and that makes me happy!!!) I'm talking about true Gamermoms. The ones who play Wow (or EQ or whatever your mmorpg is...) or play Halo or remember with fondness the old Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, PlaystationI games. Those who still play the Final Fantasy series. I admit I'm an rpg kinda girl. ( I finished "Secret of Mana" before my brother did.....) I have trouble with depth perception to begin with, so trying to figure out the Xbox 360 first person shooter-type game controls makes me dizzy. So, I usually navigate for my husband on those. The Gamermom who geeks out because the next expansion or newest version of their favorite game is coming out! (Cataclysm anyone?!?!?!) I want to know what it's like for other Gamermoms who are trying to balance game time, family time, household chores time, datenight time, ALONE time, etc. I feel like there's so many of us....but our voices are not heard. And, I'm sure if we did speak out, we'd be labeled bad parents b/c we set a bad example b/c our hobbies include playing video games. Perhaps my voice will be alone out here in cyber space, just floating along teh interwebs. Then again maybe there will be a kindred spirit out there who reads this post and says: "OMFG! I know exactly what you're talking about!!!!" We'll see what happens. You've been warned......
